The Service Officer knows the extent, the meaning, and the application of laws that have been passed by the U.S. Congress in the interests of "Honorably Discharged" veterans and their dependents. He also knows the rules and regulations adopted by the Department of Veterans Affairs to clarify and implement those laws. The Service Officer will apply specialized knowledge in the best way suited to the needs of every veteran, or his/her beneficiary, who comes to the office for assistance. John Hintz , Fayette County Director of Veterans Affairs, is a Vietnam veteran (1969-1970) and is a Nationally Accredited Representative as prescribed by Federal Regulation 14.629(a)(1)(i)(ii), for the purpose of representing Claimants before the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in matters pertaining to claims of veterans, widows and orphans.
