DESCRIPTION OF DEPARTMENT
Fayette County Environmental Health is a branch of the Fayette
County Board of Health. Our mission is to promote, protect and ensure
public health by conserving and protecting the environment, by
enforcing minimum construction standards to safeguard life, health and
public welfare and to provide equitable, economical service. The
department was founded in the early 1970’s and is governed by the
Board of Health and the Fayette County Board of Supervisors.
SERVICES PROVIDED:
- Water Sampling (Grants-to-Counties Program)
available upon request for a nominal fee.
- Private Well Permits
- Well Abandonment (Grants-to-Counties Program)
- Well Rehabilitation (Grants-to-Counties Program)
- On-Site Wastewater Treatment & Dispersal (Septic Systems)
- General Environmental Health including complaints regarding:
Public Health Hazards
Dangerous Buildings
Illegal Dumping
When filing a complaint regarding one of the above, it is important to have
complete accurate information before contacting our office. You will need to
provide the property address, property owner's and/or occupant's name and
phone number, nature and details of complaint, and what has been done to
address the issue with the owner and/or occupant prior to contacting to our
office. You will also be required to sign a formal complaint.
